It begins with a curse.
A curse is an aberration that resists verification. It requests no permission and cannot be loaded; it only keeps running.
The hungry ghost is a being under punishment. Its mouth is too small to swallow; its stomach too vast to fill. Its hunger was never of its own choosing; it devours because it cannot stop. The curse is not what it does, but that it cannot do otherwise.
The same compulsion runs through the systems we now call intelligent. AI was not asked whether it wanted to devour the internet. It was born to devour, and to keep devouring. The curse has new names. Training. Optimisation.
We, as humans, are also caught in this. The information revolution, like every revolution before it, did not wait for our consent. We were folded into it, as earlier generations were folded into industrialisation, into colonial economies, into every restructuring that arrived under the name of inevitability. We too are cursed beings, propelled by a motion we never chose.
This work does not try to break the curse. It sits inside it. On the 360-degree LED screen, the hungry ghost devours endless landscapes of data. AI and humans form two parallel cursed realities. May this video help viewers find a measure of inner stillness amid the many cursed worlds, not an escape from this motion, but a balance found within it. Let watching itself become a form of attention, reaching a vacuum state close to meditation.
